The 23-year-old India National Cricket Team leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi was ignored as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday, April 30, announced the provisional 15-man squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024.

The 2024 edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup is set to be co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States from June 1 to June 29. The upcoming T20 WC will be the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the England National Cricket Team will be entering the competition as defending champions as they defeated Pakistan in the final of the 2022 edition in Australia. Also, the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 will be the first-ever instance of 20 teams featuring in the competition.

Meanwhile, Ravi Bishnoi made his T20I debut for India in February 2022 and since the last year or so, he has regularly featured in the playing XI of the side. Bishnoi did a stunning job for the team as well and picked up 36 wickets in just 24 matches he played for the team in T20Is. He picked up his wickets at an average of 19.52, an economy of 7.50, and a strike rate of 15.6 with the best bowling figures of 4/16.

On the back of his brilliant performances, Ravi Bishnoi climbed to the No.1 spot in the ICC Men's T20I Rankings for bowlers in December. Currently, he holds the 5th position in the rankings along with Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana and has 659 rating points.

The form of the young spinner recently saw a dip in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League and Ravi Bishnoi has failed to pick wickets regularly for LSG. In 9 matches in IPL 2024, Ravi Bishnoi has picked up 5 wickets at an average of 45.00, an economy of 8.77, and a strike rate of 30.80.

Ravi Bishnoi's poor form might have contributed to his World Cup snub as India went with 4 spinners in the 15-man squad in Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal. Looking at Ravi Bishnoi being ignored for the World Cup, Irfan Pathan took to X to state that the non-selectin would be a hard pill to swallow for the youngster.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) vs Mumbai Indians (MI) clash was in the fray in the 48th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) on Tuesday, April 30, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

Mumbai Indians have been one of the weakest teams in the ongoing edition of the competition despite having one of the strongest line-ups on paper. The star-studded team has failed to perform well consistently and the Hardik Pandya & Co. are ranked ninth on the Indian Premier League 2024 points table.

Out of nine matches played in the league, Mumbai Indians have just won three matches while facing defeats in six games. Lucknow Super Giants, on the other hand, have also competed in nine matches, but they have done significantly a better job than the 5-time IPL champions. LSG have won five matches and with ten points in their bag, they take the fifth position in the standings.

Meanwhile, both LSG and MI are heading into the clash with each other on the back of a defeat in their previous match. Lucknow Super Giants faced a 7-wicket hammering at the hands of Rajasthan Royals as they allowed the Royals to chase down 197 comprehensively, riding on Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel's half-centuries.

Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, were at the receiving end of a defeat at the hands of Delhi Capitals as their bowlers allowed the Rishabh Pant-led side to post 257/4, and then MI reached 247/9, facing a 10-run loss.

Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and have opted to field first in the match. They made some significant changes to their team with the biggest one being the return of express pacer Mayank Yadav.

We have had a few good victories. Few changes, Quinton misses out. Kulkarni is in the team. Mayank is back as well. He has bowled really well, he has a huge impact. The much anticipated India team for the T20 World Cup 2024 was announced on Tuesday (30th April). Rohit Sharma was named as the skipper of the team, which saw some bold calls being taken for the tournament, set to be played in the USA and Caribbean in June this year.

Despite a lot of speculations about his place in the team for the T20 World Cup 2024, all-rounder Hardik Pandya retained his place in the team. Not only that but he was named as the vice-captain of the team as well for the tournament, having performed the job in World Cup 2023.

Hardik Pandya has been going through a torrid run of form in the Indian Premier League. The all-rounder last played for India in the World Cup 2024 and since then has been out due to injury. He made a return through IPL but it has been a forgettable outing so far for him.

Hardik Pandya has failed to deliver goods with bat and ball in IPL. Apart from this he also has been under a lot of scanner for his poor captaincy in the league. Under his leadership, Mumbai Indians have lost 6 games and are struggling to get going in the tournament.

While Hardik Pandya has been picked for the Indian team, Rinku Singh has been dropped from the team for the T20 World Cup 2024. The batter has hardly put a foot wrong in his International career and it was expected that he would be in the final squad. But it wasn't the case as he was named in reserves.

The squad also saw Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube getting picked for the team. Both batters have been drafted into the team based on their terrific performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The duo has been breathing fire with the bat in the tournament and is this one of the main reasons behind their team's success.

With Rinku Singh's place in the team and Hardik Pandya getting picked, there has been a lot of criticism that BCCI is facing. They lashed out at the governing body for not picking Rinku, who has an average of around 90 in the T20Is, over out of form all-rounder.

However, a source close to BCCI revealed that there was a toss-up between Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, and Shivam Dube for the place in the team. He stated that KKR batter was unlucky and there was also a lot of debate over Hardik's place in the team for the T20 World Cup 2024. Speaking to PTI, he explained:

"There was a lot of debate over Hardik's place in the squad while Samson was not debated much. Rinku was just unlucky. It was a toss-up between (Dube and Rinku with Hardik also in the squad)."

A BCCI source also revealed that the Impact Player rule in IPL was the reason behind Rinku Singh's World Cup snub.

“No doubt, Rinku paid the price for the Impact Player Rule. He is plain and simple unlucky. Hardik might be in poor form but he is still India’s best seam bowling all-rounder and it would have been a risk dropping him considering he is the only one who has bowled,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Apart from the above-mentioned players, Yuzvendra Chahal has been recalled to the team for the T20 World Cup 2024. The leg-spinner has been in the top-notch form in the Indian Premier League and is the second wicket-taker for the team in the tournament.

BCCI has picked just three pacers in Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj. Rishabh Pant is the first-choice keeper in the team. The batting department is bolstered by Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav.

Team India will reportedly leave for the US for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on May 21, just a day after the conclusion of the league phase of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024).

The 15-member squad for the marquee event was announced on Tuesday (April 30). Rohit Sharma will lead the team while Hardik Pandya has been named as his deputy. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been picked as Rohit's opening partner while Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav will be batting at number three and four respectively. Shivam Dube has also been included in the squad.

For the wicketkeeper's role, the selectors have picked Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson while Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are the allrounders along with Pandya. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are the frontline spinners in the team while Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh will take care of the pace department.

Indian players to leave for the US on May 21:

According to a report in Cricbuzz, the first batch of Indian players will be leaving for the US on May 21. The league phase of the ongoing IPL 2024 will be concluding on May 19. All the players who won't be a part of the teams qualifying for the playoffs will be traveling to the US on May 21. Along with the players, head coach Rahul Dravid and his support staff will also leave for the US.

The second batch of players will fly to the US after the completion of the IPL final on May 26. The Indian team will be flying to New York where they are scheduled to play three of their four league games. While the tournament will get underway on June 1, India will open their campaign on June 5.

The Men in Blue are in Group A along with arch-rivals Pakistan, Ireland, co-hosts USA and Canada. They will open their campaign against Ireland on June 5 before taking on Pakistan on June 9. India will play their third league game against the USA on June 12 in New York before taking on Canada on June 15 in Lauderhill.

Team India have not won the T20 World Cup since winning the inaugural edition in 2007 and will be desperate to go all the way this year. In the last edition, they bowed out at the semifinal stage after suffering a humiliating 10-wicket defeat against eventual winners England.

Rohit Sharma, on Tuesday (April 30), failed to deliver with the bat again as he departed cheaply in the ongoing game between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

It was a full-length delivery from Mohsin Khan and Rohit Sharma ended up hitting the shot straight to Marcus Stoinis at the cover. The veteran batsman departed after scoring just four runs. It is his third consecutive single-digit score in the ongoing IPL 2024. In the previous two games, he had scored 6 and 8 against Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals respectively.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who is undoubtedly one of the best fielders of the franchise, nailed an incredible direct hit to remove the in-form Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Tilak Varma on Tuesday, April 30, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Tilak Varma has been the biggest positive for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the batting department in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite the entire team struggling and the speculations of the team being divided into two groups following Hardik Pandya's appointment as captain, Tilak Varma has kept his entire focus on his batting and has scored runs consistently.

In 10 matches, Tilak Varma has scored 343 runs for the franchise at a good average of 42.88 and an amazing strike rate of 153.81. The left-handed batsman has slammed three half-centuries in the competition so far.

Tilak Varma entered the match against LSG with great form as had registered two 60-plus scores in his previous two outings against Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. Talking further about Ravi Bishnoi, he was recently dropped from India's ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 squad picked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee despite being ranked fifth on the ICC Men's T20I Bowling Rankings. India have selected Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal as four spin bowlers in the team.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) suffered an injury scare in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 game against Mumbai Indians (MI). Fast bowler Mayank Yadav walked off the field injured at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Mayank Yadav, who returned to the playing 11 after a long injury lay-off, yet again suffered an injury and handed Lucknow Super Giants a major blow. The fast bowler walked off the field during the 19th over of the first innings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

It came as a surprise because a ball before walking off the field, the fast bowler produced a magnificent delivery to remove Mumbai Indians batter Mohammad Nabi. The fast bowled a thunderbolt to which the batter had no clue and ended up losing his wicket at the crucial juncture of the game.

Mayank Yadav bowler a 143.1kph on a hard length. Mohammad Nabi heaved it across the line but got the inside edge. The ball went on to hit his thigh and ricocheted onto the stumps. The all-rounder looked clueless against the pace of the ball and managed just 1 run off 2 balls.

However, after taking the wicket, Mayank Yadav felt discomfort and then went out of the field. The injury didn't look good because he left the over after taking the wicket. The team management would be hoping that the pacer returns to the field soon and play the next match for the team.

Mayank Yadav bowled 3.1 overs in the game and returned with figures of 1/31. He recently faced a side strain in the game against Gujarat Titans and then after that missed all the games till now. However, his return wasn't fruitful as he managed another injury. The pacer also looked down at his pace.

Nehal Wadhera was the shining light for Mumbai Indians in the game against Lucknow Super Giants. The batter bailed the team out of trouble when they were tottering at 27/4. He scored 46 runs and helped the team post a fighting total on the board.

Nehal Wadhera believes that it's a good total on the board as the ball is gripping. He stated that he didn't think about his milestones and claimed that they needed to be on top. Speaking to broadcasters, he explained:

"I think it's a good total, would have gotten more if I had batted longer. (Good recovery) to score 144 from the situation we were in. I think the ball is gripping a bit, wasn't expecting so much turn. It's not an easy target to chase, they will have to bat smartly.

"I don't think of milestones, I just want our team to win. Happy that I could chip in with 46 runs. We haven't won the last few games, we know we all have to win our remaining games, have to give our best and the guys are optimistic, let's see what happens. We need to stop the singles, doubles and the boundaries," he concluded.
