After a disappointing year for the Indian men’s team, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held a review meeting with an eye on the 2023 ODI World Cup. The Men in Blue competed in two major limited-overs tournaments, the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup 2022, but failed to win the title.
The meeting was attended by BCCI President Mr Roger Binny, Honorary Secretary Mr Jay Shah, Indian Captain Mr Rohit Sharma, Team India (Senior Men) Head Coach Mr Rahul Dravid, Head of Cricket (NCA) Mr VVS Laxman and Chairman of Senior Men Selection Committee Mr Chetan Sharma.

Major concerns discussed include player availability, workload management, fitness metrics, and the roadmap for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India this October and November. Important players who are injury-prone or have an injury history may be rested for parts of or most of IPL 2023.
Maybe They’re Playing Too Much Cricket – Rohit Sharma
Earlier, India captain Rohit Sharma expressed his displeasure after the ODI series loss in Bangladesh, saying that players were injured despite being deemed fit on numerous occasions.

“We need to try and get to the bottom of it,” Rohit had said. “I don’t know what exactly it is. Maybe they’re playing too much cricket. We need to try and monitor those guys, because it’s important to understand when they come for India, they need to be a 100%, in fact more than 100%.”
Indian players like Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja, who are currently suffering from injuries, were reportedly discussed by the NCA medical team before the show on how to manage the workload in the future. Deepak Chahar is injured for most of 2022; Jasprit Bumrah is recovering from a stress fracture in his back; and Ravindra Jadeja is recovering from an ankle injury.
The 2023 ODI World Cup will be held in October and November, with the final slated for November 26. India have not won an ICC trophy in over a decade, with MS Dhoni leading the side to victory in the 2013 Champions Trophy.
