MS Dhoni lifts Ravindra Jadeja

India and Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja made a hilarious remark on the gesture of 5-time IPL-winning captain MS Dhoni lifting the all-rounder after last year’s final. Dhoni was overflowing with emotions after Jadeja played out a wonderful knock at the Narendra Modi stadium which eventually sealed Chennai’s the 5th title in the final against Gujarat Titans.

As Ravindra Jadeja scored the winning runs with a four towards fine-leg, he sprinted across the World’s largest stadium before rushing to the CSK captain MS Dhoni. The occasion was so joyous and so enthralling that Dhoni, someone who is known for suppressing his emotions on the field, lifted the all-rounder in sheer appreciation with emotions of pride clear on the wicket-keeper batsman’s face.

That moment, that lift from MS Dhoni to Ravindra Jadeja has been forever embedded in the minds of not just die-hard CSK fans but also in the minds of IPL fans. It counts as one of the best moments ever in the league already and whenever IPL is mentioned in the future, that particular moment will always flash in front of our eyes. And now that Dhoni is possibly playing his final season of the richest tournament, we might be seeing another moment like that.

Ravindra Jadeja takes pride in being the only cricketer to be lifted by MS Dhoni

Recently, 4 CSK players – Rachin Ravindra, MS Dhoni, Shivam Dube, and Ravindra Jadeja took part in a promotional event organized by the franchise. Therein, all of them were speaking about various things and MSD was also asked to shed light on the brilliant innings that Jadeja played in the 2023 IPL final.

But the most interesting part was when Jadeja was asked to say something about the lift of admiration he received from MS Dhoni after his wonderous knock last year. To that, the all-rounder in his witty mode, took pride in being the only one after his wife Sakshi Dhoni to get lifted by the legendary former cricketer. “I believe after Sakshi bhabhi, I am the only guy who was lifted by Mahi Bhai.” – Jadeja said with a bright smile at the CSK event.

Then it was MS Dhoni who was asked to reflect on Jadeja’s superb knock and to that Dhoni had nothing but words of appreciation. The 42-year-old said that he knew Jadeja could do something magical towards the end and also said that it was a very memorable night in Ahmedabad.

“And this situation also, you know I was quite confident about Jaddu has the talent and mindset to achieve the target. But again, its not definitely that this is what will happen. It was a very memorable innings. You know the few sixes that he hit before the last ball, I think those were very difficult.” – MS Dhoni said in the same event.

CSK gearing up for a clash against Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam

Meanwhile, after registering back-to-back wins against RCB and Gujarat Titans, CSK will be traveling to Vishakhapatnam for an away clash against Delhi Capitals. Out of the 29 matches played between the two teams, CSK have come out on top 19 times while Delhi have won just 10 times.

LSG vs PBKS Match Preview- IPL 2024, Match 11

The LSG vs PBKS IPL 2024 match will be played at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The match starts at 7.30 pm IST on Saturday. This is the only game to be played on the day. The match against Punjab Kings will be the first for Lucknow Super Giants at home at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

LSG are heading into this team as the bottom-placed team in the points table. They lost their season opener against Rajasthan Royals. Punjab Kings, on the other hand, are placed fifth with one win and one loss. They won their first game against Delhi Capitals but lost to RCB.

Lucknow Super Giants had problems playing at home last season. They won three and lost three games respectively. The pitch had an excessive turn and became a talking point throughout the campaign. The players performed better in away matches than at home. Against Punjab, they won one and lost one respectively. LSG have been consistent in the last two seasons making the playoffs.

For Punjab Kings, the challenge will be to make the playoffs first and then garner hopes of winning the IPL title. They played the IPL final only once in 2014 and lost out to KKR. Since then they have been consistently finishing sixth or below.

Given that the LSG vs PBKS match will be played in Lucknow, the pitch will have all the focus. We saw a lot of turn there last year and what kind of pitch is dished out will be an interesting observation. PBKS failed to defend 177 against RCB while LSG failed to chase 194 against Rajasthan Royals.

LSG vs PBKS Match Preview- IPL 2024, Match 11

LSG and PBKS go head to head in match 11 of IPL 2024 in Lucknow on Saturday, March 30. The match starts at 7.30 pm IST and is the first home game for the Lucknow Super Giants this season. LSG led by KL Rahul lost their first game against Rajasthan Royals as they failed to chase 194 to win. Skipper KL Rahul who was expected to bat in the middle-order eventually opened and scored 58. Nicholas Pooran’s 64 off 41 balls also went in vain.

Punjab Kings, on the other hand, failed to defend 177 at the Chinnaswamy as they lost to RCB in their second game. They defeated Delhi Capitals chasing in the first game but failed to defend against their Southern rivals.

The batting lineup is already looking dependent on Shikhar Dhawan who scored 45 in the last game. Jonny Bairstow failed to give a good start to the franchise. His form has been a concern for the franchise. Harshal Patel has missed his mark in the death overs in back-to-back games for the Kings.

LSG and PBKS played two games last season and won one game each. While LSG won at Mohali, the Kings won in Lucknow. Both will be bracing themselves for another game in Lucknow.

The home side struggled to win too many games at home last season. They won just three and lost three. The excessive spinning conditions did not work in their favor last season. The batters performed much better in away games than at home.

Ekana Stadium in Lucknow is all set to host the LSG vs PBKS IPL 2024 match on Saturday, March 30. The match starts at 7.30 pm IST. This is the very first game of the season for Lucknow Super Giants at home. LSG won just three games at home last year and lost three.

Their batters have problems playing in what was almost a rank turner at the Ekana Stadium. They were much more comfortable playing away from home and winning matches.

The biggest observation this year for the Super Giants will be what kind of pitches are prepared for the home team and whether it suits their overseas players. KL Rahul and the management will have to have a pro[per plan regarding the kind of pitches prepared. LSG are currently at the bottom of the points table having lost their season opener against Rajasthan Royals.

Punjab Kings, on the other hand, started their campaign with a win against Delhi Capitals and lost their next against RCB. They chased down 176 required to win against Delhi and failed to defend 177 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Jonny Bairstow has failed to give the team good starts in the first two games and his form has been a concern for the franchise.. He could not execute his death-over skills in the final overs.

LSG and PBKS have played three games against each other with the Super Giants winning two games and the Kings one. Both teams won one game against each other last year at the home ground of the opponent teams. LSG won in Mohali while Kings won in Lucknow.

LSG vs PBKS Match Preview- IPL 2024, Match 11

The LSG vs PBKS IPL 2024 match will be played at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on March 30. The match starts at 7.30 pm IST and this is the very first home game for the Lucknow Super Giants this season.

Currently, LSG finds themselves at the bottom of the points table after losing their campaign opener against Rajasthan Royal. Punjab Kings find themselves fifth on the table after two games. They won against DC and lost against RCB.

Team Analysis

Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants failed to chase 194 in their first game against Rajasthan Royals. Half-centuries by KL Rahul (58) and Nicholas Pooran (64) were not enough to see the team home. Barring these two batters the rest of them struggled against the Royals.

The batters are yet to hit their strides in the tournament. The bigger concern for LSG is winning matches at home. They won just three of their seven games at home last season. What kind of pitches will be prepared at the venue will be an interesting observation.

Punjab Kings

Punja Kings failed to defend 177 against RCB in their last game. Arsdeep Singh and Harshal Patel gave away 40 and 45 respectively. Rahul Chahar was used for just one over by Shikhar Dhawan, By the looks of it, PBKS are still trying to find their feet in the season. They are not yet sure of their playing combination. In Lucknow, which is considered to be a spinner-friendly track, they have one of their key spinners not bowling well.

How they address their concerns heading into this game will be a reflection of how the management will approach the game. The Punjab Kings have got into losing streaks in past IPL seasons that they need to avoid.

Key Factors

Pitch Conditions

LSG won three out of their seven home matches last season. The pitch at the Ekana stadium has been historically a turning track. There was way more turn than normal for T20 games at the venue last season.

The kind of pitchers prepared this year will give a clear indication of the tactics of the home team at the venue. Given its history, a score of around 160-170 will be a winning score. The chasing team will need to bat very well to chase totals.

Form and Fitness

Form wise the batters and bowlers from both teams are still getting into their grooves. LSG have played just one match while the Kings have two. Both teams are still looking for their settled playing combination.

Fitness-wise, the ECB pulled out Mark Wood from this IPL season as they are monitoring his fitness for the T20 World Cup 2024. Shamarh Joseph was called in as a replacement. There are no major injury concerns in the PBKS camp as yet.

Score Prediction

Lucknow Super Giants150-160140-160
Punjab Kings140-160150-160

Tactical Acumen

The Lucknow pitch given how it played last year is expected to be a spin-friendly track. There will be more in it for the spinners than the pacers. LSH have Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandua as their two spinners while the Kings have Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar. The key for both Rahul and Dhawan is to use their overs wisely.

Punjab Kings Playing 11 vs LSG- IPL 2024, Match 11

Punjab Kings takes on the Lucknow Super Giants in match 11 of IPL 2024 in Lucknow. This is their third game of the season. They won their season opener against Delhi Capitals while losing their next against RCB.

The Kings have played three games against the Super Giants winning one and losing two games. They won and lost one game against LSG last season. Interestingly, the win came at the Ekana stadium in Lucknow.

Punjab’s overdependence on Shikhar Dhawan was visible very early on in the campaign. Shikhar scored 45 and was anchoring the chase. He top-scored for the Kings with 45 as none of the other batters could not cross even 30. Cameos from Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran and proved too little in the end.

Heading into the next game, PBKS can make a few tactical changes. They can bring in Sinakdar Raza in place of Sam Curran and bolster their spin attack as conditions at the venue are expected to be spin-friendly.

The Indian batters apart from Dhawan need to take some more responsibility if Punjab is to be successful this season. There are concerns with Jonny Bairstow’s form as well.

Jonny Bairstow

Sikandar Raza/ Sam Curran

Based on conditions in Lucknow, PBKS can replace Sam Curran with Sikandar Raza and ask him to bat in the top order. Raza scored a match-winning 67 against LSG in the match the Kings won last year.

Liam Livingstone

Livingstone can slot in at four. He is perfectly capable of batting at that number and can be seen as the finisher for the side along with Jitesh Sharma.

Jitesh Sharma (WK)

Sharma scored 20 off 27 balls in the chase against RCB in the previous game. He has a strike rate of close to 200 in his first 10 balls but has struggled in his first two knocks of the season.

Shashank Singh

Shashank scored a blazing cameo of 21 off 8 balls that took the Kings past 170 against RCB. There was some confusion regarding his auction as per reports but he showed his ability in the previous game.

Brar is perfectly capable of batting at seven for the Kings. He is also one of their two specialist spinners. He bowled a brilliant spell of 2/13 off his four overs against RCB.

Harshal Patel

Harshal will slot in at eight. He was expensive in the first two games against DC and RCB. The Kings roped him for almost 11 crores in the auction. So far he has picked up three wickets in two games.

LSG vs PBKS Match Preview- IPL 2024, Match 11

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) takes on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in match 11 of IPL 2024 on Saturday in Lucknow. This is LSG’s first match at home this season. The franchise managed to win just three home games last year.

LSG are heading into this game after losing their campaign opener against Rajasthan Royals. Punjab Kings, on the other hand, lost their previous game against RCB after winning their season opener against Delhi Capitals.

Date and Venue

The LSG vs PBKS IPL 2024 match will be played in Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium on March 30, Saturday from 7.30 pm IST. Both teams won one game each last season. Interestingly Punjab Kings won by two wickets against LSG the last time they played in Lucknow.

LSG vs PBKS Match Preview- IPL 2024, Match 11

Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants failed to chase down 194 in their season opener on March 25. They are playing their second game after a five-day break. They will be playing their first game at home. The Super Giants found it tough to win games at home last season. The batters especially found it difficult to counter the spin on the pitch.

The Ekana track historically has been a spinning-friendly track over the years. Lucknow have two good spinners. However, making it a rank turner might pose a threat to the batters like it did last year. The franchise has yet to find the right combination. Rahul was supposed to bat in the middle-order. However, he opened in the first game.

The challenge for the franchise will be preparing tacks that allow them to win at home which has been a feature in the IPL. Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi, have two good spinners which the oppositions need to be wary of. The combination they have for their first game at home will be an interesting observation.

LSG Squad

KL Rahul (c), Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Kyle Mayers, Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, Devdutt Padikkal, Ravi Bishnoi, Naveen-ul-Haq, Krunal Pandya, Yudhvir Singh, Prerak Mankad, Yash Thakur, Amit Mishra, Shamar Joseph, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, K. Gowtham, Shivam Mavi, Arshin Kulkarni, M. Siddharth, Ashton Turner, David Willey, Mohd. Arshad Khan.

Punjab Kings

PBKs chased down 177 against Delhi Capitals but failed to defend 176 against RCB. They will be on the road for the next two games and the challenge for them will be to win away games. They won their first game at the newly built stadium in Mullanpur.

So far in the first two games, batting seems to be the stronger suit of PBKS. There is over-dependence on Shikhar Dhawan but they have other batters to trust on as well. The biggest concern in the batting department is to produce runs from Jonny Bairstow. Being an overseas cricketer there will be pressure on him to perform. He has been struggling since the Test series against India.

Since this pitch aids spinners more than pacers, Punjab have two good spinners Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar. They can add a third spinner in Sikandar Raza by dropping Sam Curran for this game. The change can be tactical. Liam Livingstone can fill in the role of the fourth spinner.

Another big problem for the Kings so far has been Harshal Patel’s expensive return in the death overs. He was taken for 24 in his final over against DC and against RCB, he went for 45 of his four overs. How they use him in Lucknow will be an interesting observation.

PBKS Squad

Shikhar Dhawan (c), Matthew Short, Prabhsimran Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Sikandar Raza, Rishi Dhawan, Liam Livingstone, Atharva Taide, Arshdeep Singh, Nathan Ellis, Sam Curran, Kagiso Rabada, Harpreet Brar, Rahul Chahar, Harpreet Bhatia, Vidwath Kaverappa, Shivam Singh, Harshal Patel, Chris Woakes, Ashutosh Sharma, Vishwanath Pratap Singh, Shashank Singh, Tanay Thyagarajann, Prince Choudhary, Rilee Rossouw.

Key Battles

KL Rahul vs Kagiso Rabada

In case KL Rahul, decides to open again, he will have to face up against Kagiso Rabada who took three wickets in the first two games. Rabada’s express pace might trouble KL Rahul when he is fresh in his innings and the two-bouncer rule might help Rabada

Shikhar Dhawan vs Mohsin Khan

Dhawan will open the batting for the Punjab Kings. He will have to come up against the likes of Naveen Ul Haq and Mohsin Khan. The two move the ball in different directions. While Naveen predominantly is an inswing bowler, Mohsin can shape the ball away from the batters. We have seen Dhawan chop on against the pacers early on in his innings.

Liam Livingstone vs Ravi Bishnoi

This can be an intriguing battle. Livingstone blasts the spinners right from the get-go and the wily Bishnoi will look to outdo him early on in his innings. The England hard-hitter has a reputation of being a big-hitter in T20 cricket.

Key Players

For LSG, KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, and Nicholas Pooran will be key with the bat. With the ball. Naveen, Mohsin and the two spinners Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi will be key.

For Punjab Kings, Shikhar Dhawan is their biggest key with the bat alongside, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma, and Sikandar Raza is he plays. Given the conditions, he should replace Sam Curran in the XI. With the ball, Rabada, Harshal, and the spin twins Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar will be key.

Weather and Pitch

The weather conditions for this game will be around 28 degrees with clear weather conditions and no chance of rain. The impact of dew might make a difference in the match.

Speaking about the pitch, the Lucknow track historically has been a spinning wicket. Last year LSG won just three home games and the turning conditions posed problems for batters. A score between 150-160 might be a challenging total.

Conclusion

So far the two teams have played three games in the IPL. Last year they won one game each. PBKS won in Lucknow while the Super Giants won in Mohali. Winning games at home will be key for LSGH who just won three home games last season.

Ravichandran Ashwin

Veteran Indian spin-bowling all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin recently made interesting comments about the Indian Premier League (IPL). Ravichandran Ashwin acknowledged the T20 tournament’s substantial growth and its significant commercial influence.

Ashwin’s statement came while discussing the remarkable evolution of the IPL since its inception in 2008. Ashwin, who debuted in the IPL in 2009, currently represents the Rajasthan Royals in the tournament. He clinched the IPL title twice during his career.

Was Only Looking To Learn From The Big Stars – Ravichandran Ashwin

In a discussion on the Club Prairie Fire podcast alongside Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan, Ravichandran Ashwin questioned whether the IPL’s scale overshadows its sporting essence. He expressed awe at how significantly the league has evolved over the years.

“As a youngster coming into the IPL, I was only looking to learn from the big stars, I did not think about how the IPL would look 10 years down the line. I can say that having been in the IPL for so many seasons, the IPL is huge. Sometimes I wonder if IPL is even cricket because the sport takes a backstage (during IPL). It’s so huge. We do end up practicing in advertisement shoots and sets! That’s where the IPL has gotten to,” said Ashwin.

Ashwin began his IPL career with the Chennai Super Kings, leading to his representation of India across formats. He has taken 172 wickets in 199 matches, with a bowling average of 28.77 and an economy rate of 7.04. He also contributed with the bat, scoring 743 runs.

There Was A Big Influx Of Money – Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin recounted a conversation with former cricketer Scott Styris during the initial seasons of the IPL. Styris expressed skepticism about the IPL’s longevity, predicting it wouldn’t extend beyond a few years due to the big influx of money.

“No one envisaged the kind of growth that the IPL has had. I still remember a conversation I had with Scott Styris when we were both at CSK. He told me that when he was playing for the Deccan Chargers in the initial seasons of IPL, he did not think the IPL would last for more than two to three years. Initially, there was a big influx of money,” Ashwin added.

The IPL has evolved into a pathway for the Indian national cricket team, offering more than just financial rewards. It provides overseas players with substantial earnings and a platform for emerging talents and established stars to gain household recognition.

Ravichandran Ashwin Shines With Bat During RR vs DC Clash

Ashwin showcased his batting prowess during the IPL 2024 match against the Delhi Capitals in Jaipur on March 28. Ashwin was promoted to bat at No. 5 after the Royals found themselves at 36/3. The decision proved successful, turning the game in their favor.

The experienced player scored 29 runs off just 19 deliveries. The 37-year-old thrilled the spectators with remarkable sixes, especially against bowlers like Kuldeep Yadav and Anrich Nortje. Ashwin injected momentum into his team following a challenging start.

Ravichandran Ashwin was dismissed in the 14th over while attempting to clear the deep mid-wicket fence off Axar Patel’s delivery but was caught by Tristan Stubbs. The RR team posted 185 runs in 20 overs and then restricted the DC team to 173 runs.

Riyan Parag and Irfan Pathan

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan, who has represented 3 IPL franchises since the 2008 season, has made a very bold prediction about Rajasthan Royals batsman Riyan Parag. After watching the Assam-born cricketer play out his best-ever knock in the Indian Premier League, Pathan was intrigued to say that Parag has all the makings of representing team India shortly.

Irfan Pathan, who is on commentary duty with the Star Sports’ Hindi entourage, was watching over Riyan Parag’s blistering knock very closely. The all-rounder had been noticing the youngster since the time he made his debut for Rajasthan Royals back in 2019. During his initial years, Parag could only show signs of the things to expect from him but last night, he well and truly depicted what he’s capable of.

The 2023 season hadn’t pan out the way he would have wanted but Riyan Parag’s consistent grind and hard work in the domestic circuit has paid dividends in RR’s first two matches this season.

After scoring 43 off 29 during Rajasthan’s opening game against Lucknow Super Giants, Parag carried on with his form last night. He smacked a match-winning as well as a man of the match-winning 84* off 45 which helped Rajasthan post 186 as the target, something at one point was seeming distant.

Irfan Pathan asks youngsters to take inspiration from Riyan Parag

Irfan Pathan was pretty active with his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter) and put out a series of Tweets in appreciation for Parag. The first time Pathan tweeted about him was when the batter amassed 43 in the win against LSG, claiming, “Riyan Parag will have a breakthrough season…”

In the next two years Riyan Parag is playing for India…

— Irfan Pathan (@IrfanPathan) March 28, 2024

Then yesterday, after Parag reached his fifty against Delhi Capitals, Pathan took to X and wrote, “Already seeing the good signs. Brilliant from Riyan Parag so far 👏.” Then came the big prediction. As Parag ended Rajasthan’s first innings brilliantly by smacking 4 fours and 2 sixes off South African speedster Anrich Nortje, Pathan claimed that the 22-year-old will be playing for India in the next 2 years. “In the next two years Riyan Parag is playing for India…”
Don’t ever take Indian domestic cricket lightly, it’s for your own good. Look at Riyan Parag. He is performing well in the IPL straightaway cos he made tons of runs there.

— Irfan Pathan (@IrfanPathan) March 28, 2024
And after Parag was adjudged as man of the match, his fourth, Irfan Pathan had a piece of advice for youngsters to take domestic cricket seriously and give it utmost importance. “Don’t ever take Indian domestic cricket lightly, it’s for your own good. Look at Riyan Parag. He is performing well in the IPL straightaway cos he made tons of runs there.” – Pathan’s last Tweet on Parag read.

Pathan defends Riyan Parag after fan comments

In the comment section of his first Tweet about Riyan Parag last night, a fan questioned Irfan Pathan’s judgment so early on in the season. “2 Hi matches hue h sir (It been only 2 matches sir)” – the fan asked. The former all-rounder gave a fitting response by asking, “You don’t follow Indian domestic cricket?”

Irfan was trying to highlight Riyan Parag’s performance in the 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy where he scored 510 runs in 10 innings, averaging 85 with an 183 strike rate.
