Naveen Express, the young raider who orchestrated a brilliant win for Dabang Delhi KC in Pro Kabaddi Season 8, married his childhood friend and life-partner Meenakshi Baliyan in a low-key ceremony in Faridabad. He announced this to the world, breaking many a heart, on his Instagram handle. We wish Naveen Kumar a long and happy partnership.

Naveen Kumar scored a massive 207 points in just 338 raids - mind you, this was a season where Naveen nursed a severe knee injury in mid-season. But stringing Super-10s after Super-10s he carried the veteran Dabang Delhi on his young shoulders to bring home their maiden PKL victory.

Naveen Kumar is from Bhaini School in Haryana which now also boasts of Mohit Goyat, another young raider who shouldered the responsibility for Puneri Paltan.

This week, the Walt Disney Company continues to gain ground in the global streaming market as it launches Disney+ in 16 markets across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). This follows the launch of Disney+ in South Africa last month.

The company is inching toward its plan to more than double the number of countries where Disney+ is available, having said it aims to have the service in over 160 countries by its fiscal 2023. In March, Disney+ announced the launch dates for 42 countries and territories, including the 16 that are a part of this new MENA launch. The service will also be launched in more countries across Europe on June 14.

Subscribers in Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya and eight other markets will now have a variant version of the Disney+ Hotstar app, which subscribers in India and South-East Asia also have. This means the service will be structured a little differently than in the U.S., as it will have a different user interface and a different login system that uses a mobile number instead of a Disney ID.

Disney+ Hotstar is the Indian streaming service and offers 100,000+ hours of content across nine languages, plus live sports programming (cricket, football, kabaddi, etc.).

The MENA version of Disney+ will not only get general programming from Hotstar, but it will also be a hub for thousands of films, shows and exclusive originals from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic. This includes “Ms. Marvel,” “The Mandalorian,” “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” “Moon Knight,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “The Dropout,” “The Kardashians” and more.

Subscribers will have access to up to four simultaneous streams, unlimited downloads on up to 10 devices and a maximum of seven user profiles (including kids’ profiles that only have age-appropriate content).

In the second quarter of the year, Disney+ had 137.9 million subscribers worldwide, while Disney+ Hotstar had 50 million subscribers. The recent expansion puts the streamer in line to potentially succeed in its ambitious goal of reaching 230 to 260 million subscribers by 2024.

This wasn’t the only news Disney shared this week. Yesterday, the company announced it had named Dana Walden as the new chairman of Disney General Entertainment Content. She will report directly to CEO Bob Chapek. As a continuation of the high-level executive restructuring that has taken place at Disney, Walden will be replacing Peter Rice, the former chairman that was suspected of being Chapek’s replacement. This will not be the case, however.

The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is back with its 10th season, and as the anticipation grows, teams are gearing up to assemble their best squads. One team that has caught the attention of fans and pundits alike is the Bengal Warriors. Known for their competitive spirit and remarkable talent pool, the Warriors have made some strategic decisions regarding their team composition for PKL 10.

The Bengal Warriors have wisely decided to hold on to their existing young talents, recognizing their potential to shine in the upcoming season. They retained young players like Vaibhav Bhausaheb Garje, R Guhan, Suyon Baban Gaikar, and Parshant Kumar. These young guns have showcased their skills and determination in previous seasons.

While the Warriors have retained promising young players, they have chosen not to retain any players in the 'Elite players' and 'Retained young players' categories. This bold move suggests that the team is looking for fresh faces and strategies to revamp their squad and secure a winning formula for PKL 10.

Full Team of Bengal Warriors (To be updated after PKL 10 Auction):

Every season brings change, and the Bengal Warriors have released several players from their previous roster. The list of released players includes some well-known names like Maninder Singh, Manoj Gowda, Akash Pikalmunde, Deepak Hooda, Ajinkya Kapre, Girish Ernak, Shrikant Jadhav, and Surender Nada.

One of the most notable departures is Maninder Singh, who has been a key figure for the Bengal Warriors in previous seasons. His absence will be felt, and the team will need to find a suitable replacement for their star raider. However, the decision to release these players means that they will be available for the PKL 10 auction, creating opportunities for other teams to acquire their services.

As Bengal Warriors embark on their journey in PKL 10, they are set to embrace change and explore new avenues for success. Retaining their young talents shows a commitment to building a strong foundation for the future, while the release of experienced players indicates their willingness to take calculated risks and explore fresh opportunities in the upcoming season.

PKL 10 is on the horizon, and the Bengal Warriors are poised to make their mark once again. The decisions made in team composition will play a significant role in determining their success in the Pro Kabaddi League 2023.

Mashal Sports, the driving force behind the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), has unveiled revised dates for the eagerly anticipated Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 Player Auction. Originally slated for September 8-9, the auction has now been rescheduled to take place on October 9 and 10, 2023.

This strategic shift comes following a request from the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India, which sought to ensure the undivided focus and preparation of the Indian kabaddi team for the upcoming Asian Games later this month.

Anupam Goswami, the League Commissioner of the Pro Kabaddi League, expressed his enthusiasm for the new auction dates. He stated, "We are delighted to announce that the Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 Player Auction will now be held immediately after the Asian Games. We are certain that there will be very strong fan excitement and interest in a blockbuster Player Auction, where several star performers from the Asian Games will attract competitive bidding from the PKL teams."

The player pool for PKL Season 10 will consist of both Domestic and Overseas players, segmented into four categories (A, B, C, and D). Further classification within each category will divide players into 'All-Rounders,' 'Defenders,' and 'Raiders.' The base prices for these categories are as follows: INR 30 Lakh- Category A, INR 20 Lakh- Category B, INR 13 Lakh- Category C, and INR 9 Lakh- Category D. The total Season 10 Player Pool will comprise 500+ players, including the 24 athletes from the two finalist teams of the Khelo India University Games 2023. Each franchise will have a salary purse of INR 5 crore at their disposal.

The teams participating in the PKL Season 10 have already commenced their squad-building endeavours, adhering to the League Player Policy for this season. In August 2023, the teams exercised their prerogative to retain players from their PKL Season 9 squads. Players were categorized as Elite Retained Players (ERP), Retained Young Players (RYP), and Existing New Young Players (ENYP). A total of 84 players were retained, distributed among the three categories. Notably, star players such as Pawan Sehrawat, Vikash Kandola, and Fazel Atrachali, who were not retained, will now be featured in the PKL Season 10 Player Auction.

Under the sanction of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI), Mashal Sports and Disney Star have masterminded the transformation of the Pro Kabaddi League into one of India's most prosperous sports leagues. With the highest number of matches among all Indian sports leagues, PKL has succeeded in reshaping the image of the indigenous sport of Kabaddi and its athletes, both domestically and internationally.

As the excitement builds around the rescheduled Player Auction for PKL Season 10, fans and teams alike eagerly anticipate the opportunity to secure their favourite talents and assemble competitive squads for another thrilling season of kabaddi action. The Pro Kabaddi League continues to be a beacon of success in the Indian sports landscape, captivating audiences and fostering the growth of the beloved sport of kabaddi.
