Pakistan vs New Zealand goes head-to-head in the second Test in Karachi on January 2. The first PAK vs NZ Test ended in a draw making the second Test a must-win for both teams. The Men in Green are placed seventh while the Kiwis are eighth on the WTC points table. Both teams are way fewer points than the teams above them.
New Zealand scored 61-1 before bad light forced the umpires to call off the final days’ play in Karachi in the first Test. The Kiwis were asked to chase 138 in the last 14-15 overs of the day’s play. The pitch garnered a lot of criticism for the way it played out. The pitch curator will now be under pressure to prepare a far more lively picture in the second Test.

Pakistan scored 438 in their first innings. The Kiwis responded by scoring a mammoth 612/9 with Kane Williamson scoring his fifth double toon in Test cricket. He played an unbeaten innings of 200 with the other batters batting around him.
Babar Azam declared their second innings with still more than an hour of the day’s play left. He tempted the Kiwis to chase down 138 in the remaining overs. Babar was praised for his move. The Kiwis with all their experience in the side played it safe and earned a draw. The result still keeps them alive in the series.

Pakistan after losing two back-to-back Test series at home would love to win the series. The Kiwis too would look to hurt the hosts in their own backyard. Thus the second Test is well poised for a result.
